Black Forest-Triberg, Germany
(August, 2005)

Triberg is a quaint thriving town deep in the Black Forest. It is a popular tourist attraction town due to the Gutach Falls.

The Gutach Waterfall is the highest waterfall in Germany. It falls about 530ft (160m) in seven stages. But, there are much higher waterfalls in the United States. This is a gazebo rest stop before continuing the hike up the winding trail.

One of the seven stages of the waterfall as it cascades down to the mountain into the town of Triberg.

A pool of water from the Gutach Falls. This waterfall evidently was the main source of electricity for the town and nearby provinces a long time ago.

Triberg is also home of the largest cuckoo clock. People from all over the world flock here to buy unique traditional timepieces.

View of the enchanting town of Triberg. It is the start of the ancient market hiking trail that follows the route of the cuckoo-clock traders who, long ago, carried the famous Black Forest clocks from village to village. It is one of the must see towns in the Black Forest.

The gears inside the largest cuckoo clock. We actually stayed to listen to it cuckoo and watched the bird go out as it struck on the hour.

Another large cuckoo clock at one of the retail stores we visited along the scenic road of Schwarzwaldstrasse.

We stopped at a glass blowing factory and museum. Angie blowing on a long metal pipe, attempting to create a glass design.
