Kirchdorf & St. Johann , Austria

A bunch of us went to Austria to go Skiing in Jan 05. We stayed in a town called Kirchdorf which is very close to St. Johann and Kitbuhel. Combination lift tickets can be purchased for these ski areas and a few others in the area .

This is a covered bridge in St. Johann, just on the edge of town.

The Alphof hotel is were we stayed. Notice how it is the middle of January and people are enjoying lunch in the outdoor cafe.

The view from our room every morning looked something like this. You can see a fresh dusting of snow and the sun just beginning to shine on the mountain in the back known as the Wilder Kaiser.

Here is a couple of us skiing at the Steinplatte ski resort. The pictures don't do the view justice.

Another picture of us after lunch. This was the view from one of the outdoor cafe's.

Another great view as you take the gondola back to the parking lot.

An old house in S. Johann. Angie really liked the way it was painted.

This is a typical looking church with twin bell towers. This is in the heart of St. johann.

A shrine at the top of a mountain overlooking the Alps

One can see many of these horse drawn sleighs throughout the area. When there is no snow, they crank down a set of wheels and can run along the road. Once the sleigh is in deep enough snow, the wheels are cranked up.

A bunch of us went for an evening sleigh ride one night.
